LITA

Open Source Integrated Library Systems

There is a discussion on LITA-L* right now started by someone beginning to examine OSS ILS (free licensed software used for integrated library systems). Open source and libraries seem to complement each other so well. Libraries using these systems always stress the aspects of collaboration and innovation involved. Since your ILS is the primary point of entry for the public to access library resources, it is a great bonus to be able to update and make changes for your specific needs. If you have used a OSS ILS, what have you found are the strengths and weaknesses involved?

LITA's Top Technology Trends

I made a quick trip to Chicago for one meeting, but only had time for a taste of the vast ALA offerings. One session I really wish I could have attended is the popular LITA Top Technology Trends session. The next best thing to being there, luckily, is the recorded version available at http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1797127.
