Gaming in Florida

Lori Reed is most likely a familiar name to you. She's a regular contributor to TechSoup for Libraries and MaintainIT. She recently facilitated an online class for NEFLIN, "Gaming in Libraries", which was based on content from the MaintainIT Cookbook, Planning for Success. I talked to Lori after the session and asked her how it went. Here's her reply.

Highly Contagious

There's a nasty cold making its germ-infested way from person to person here in Kansas City and despite washing my hands 20 times per day and eating Vitamin C like candy, it has at last caught up to me. Luckily, I telecommute so am still able to work without needing to worry about spreading the bug to coworkers. While I don't like contagious colds, I do love infectious ideas and I need to thank my friend Chris Jowaisas (MaintainIT Steering Committee member)  for my latest  bout of curiosity. The topic?? Believe it or not, it's evaluations and metrics.

A Need for Speed: Bob Bocher on Bandwidth

In the world of library public access computing, it seems that there are two things people always wish for -- more computers and more bandwidth. Yesterday's 30-minute webinar, a collaboration between MaintainIT and WebJunction, focused on bandwidth -- getting more and making the most of what you've got.

Keeping Up

Thanks to Kam McEvoy for hosting today's free webinar, Keeping Up with Technology. The session was based on content from the latest MaintainIT Cookbook, Planning for Success. The Cookbook chapter is filled with recommended resources, but during today's webinar, even more great sites were suggested by participants. Thank you to everyone who shared personal favorites!

The Tech Static

The Tech Static, a new collection development resource for technology titles, published its inaugural issue today. Included in this first issue was an announcement regarding the new MaintainIT Cookbook, Joy of Computing - Planning for Success. Hooray!

A NEW cookbook has arrived, thanks to all of YOU!

We're very happy to report that the latest Cookbook is now available on the MaintainIT web site! "Planning for Success, a guide for the overworked librarian" is packed with resources, ideas, tips, and techniques from over a hundred librarians from across the country.

You can find the new Cookbook here:  http://www.maintainitproject.org/cookbooks/planning-for-success
